Overview

Catch falling stars, collect underwater crystals, or feed tacos to a monster; the theme is yours to choose! At Coder’s Clubhouse, campers will spend the day turning a blank Scratch project into their own playable catching game.

Using Scratch’s drag-and-drop coding blocks, campers will learn how to control a character, make objects fall, track points, and create a winning moment. Our instructor will guide them through each step, with time to personalize their artwork, add sound effects, and adjust how their game plays. Optional challenges give campers who are ready for more a chance to stretch their skills.

Campers will also swap games, share feedback, and make improvements before showing off their creations. Everyone will take home their saved project on a provided USB drive, along with instructions for reopening it in Scratch.

Designed for ages 9–15, this beginner-friendly camp requires no previous coding experience. Computers and project materials are provided.

  • Events and loops: starting actions and repeating instructions.

  • Conditions: making a game respond when something happens.
