Overview
The Micro:bit Gadget Camp combines coding with hands-on electronics as students build and program their very own pocket-sized tech device. Using the Micro:bit, a small but powerful computer with lights, buttons, and sensors, students learn to write code that makes their gadget interactive. The camp is designed to work for all levels—beginners can follow guided steps to make simple interactive devices, while more advanced students can experiment with sensors, animations, and more complex logic. By the end of the camp, students will leave with a personalized Micro:bit gadget they built and coded themselves.
Key Concepts
Micro:bit Programming with MakeCode
Event Handling (buttons, gestures, sensors)
Loops and Randomization
LED Displays and Animations
Input/Output in Physical Computing
Soft Skills
Problem-Solving through Coding and Debugging
Creativity in Designing and Decorating Gadgets
Hands-On Making and Tinkering
Independence and Ownership of a Project
Confidence in Learning New Technology
Outcomes
Understand how to program a Micro:bit using events, loops, and conditions.
Build and personalize a mini gadget that combines coding with physical computing.
Develop creativity by combining code with hands-on decoration.
Strengthen problem-solving skills by testing and improving code.
Take home a working Micro:bit gadget they built themselves.
