Minnesota Ranks Last in Computer Science Access

Did you know Minnesota ranks last in the U.S. for computer science access? According to MPR News, only 28% of high schools in the state offer computer science courses—a shocking gap in a world where technology shapes nearly every industry. This means too many young people are graduating without exposure to coding, computational thinking, or the chance to explore careers in technology.
At Coder’s Clubhouse, we believe every student deserves better. Coding isn’t just about jobs in tech—it’s about problem-solving, creativity, and understanding the tools shaping our future. That’s why we’re stepping in to fill this critical gap.
Why Computer Science Matters
Computer science education isn’t optional anymore—it’s foundational. Learning to code helps students:
Develop problem-solving and logical thinking skills.
Build confidence by turning ideas into projects.
Unlock creativity in digital design, game-making, and storytelling.
Prepare for careers in a world where technology is everywhere.
Without access, Minnesota kids risk being left behind. That’s why it matters now more than ever to give them opportunities outside the classroom.
What We’re Doing at Coder’s Clubhouse
We designed Coder’s Clubhouse to make computer science accessible, engaging, and fun. Through weekly classes, camps, and hands-on maker projects, kids ages 10–18 can:
Learn coding languages step by step.
Explore real-world tech like robotics, AI, and 3D printing.
Collaborate with peers and build confidence.
See themselves as creators—not just consumers—of technology.
Instead of waiting for schools to catch up, we’re giving students the tools to lead in a tech-driven world.
Why This Matters for Kids Today
Technology isn’t slowing down—and neither should we. At Coder’s Clubhouse, we’re helping kids:
Gain future-ready skills that schools may not provide.
Explore coding in a supportive, project-based environment.
Grow into creative problem-solvers who can thrive in any field.
✨ That’s why we started Coder’s Clubhouse: because every child should have the chance to explore coding, unlock their creativity, and imagine a future full of possibility.
